I realize everyone feels cooped up in the homes. But you have to remember that Atlanta is really not equipped to deal with snow, and that ice is a real threat here — and by ice, I mean black ice. I’ve driven over black ice before and it is a really scary experience. If you do find yourself headed out today, you will likely encounter it. Here are a few tips for dealing with it.
First, don’t panic. DON’T HIT THE BRAKES! This will make you skid further. You need to take your foot off the gas and make slight corrections with the steering wheel until you are over it.
Also you need to drive slowly and allow four times the amount of time it normally takes to come to a stop. I realize a lot of cars have 4X4 and AWD now. But, those are no match for ice.

Actually, the BEST course of action is just to stay home. Yesterday there were accidents all over Atlanta. It’s just not worth the risk. If you need something, get out and ask your neighbors. It’s a great time to get to know each other!
Happy Snowmageddon 2018!
